Pre-Service Class #3: Trauma Informed Care - Part 1

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Class #3 is an introduction to trauma and why it is crucial that foster parents understand trauma and its impact on the body and brains of foster children. Trauma-Informed Care looks at all the systems in the body that are affected by trauma and how we can uncover those needs by observing the patterns of behavior the child displays. The class goes further to discuss what strategies can be used to meet the need once it has been discovered.

This class is required for all new foster families ONLY, but you must attend Foster Parent Orientation prior to participating in this class unless you have received prior authorization from the Home Development Department.
